There are dozens of IOTA wallets to choose from. But what is the best IOTA wallet? At Bitcoin-News.one we make a point of keeping everything as beginner-friendly as possible. Therefore, after testing all the different options on the market, we have come to the conclusion that the GUI IOTA light wallet is probably the best option. In this report we explain everything you need to know about the GUI IOTA wallet and how to set it up.
What is the IOTA Light Wallet?
The GUI IOTA Light Wallet is a simple solution for storing and shipping your IOTA Coins. It is user friendly, fast and easy to set up, making it the best option for beginners.
The only drawback we noticed with the GUI IOTA Light Wallet is the lack of mobile support. If you want to be able to save or send coins on a mobile device, you should look at other wallets.
Security is an important aspect of every wallet. The IOTA Light Wallet is designed so that you are the only person who can access your Recover key. The IOTA Light Wallet is compatible with all common operating systems (Windows, MAC and Linux).
Which crypto currencies are supported?
TheGUI IOTA light Wallet is specially designed for the storage of IOTA This means that it does not support any other crypto currency.
Is the wallet secure?
The wallet is designed so that you are the only person who can store your private recovery key. However, to protect your coins, you should follow the steps below:
1. do not create an "auto-generated" seed on a third-party website Always create passwords yourself and never use websites that you find on Google.
2. do not share your recovery seed with others. Some people will pretend to be IOTA representatives and ask for your Recovery Seed to "help" you. Don't fall for the trick, no one needs your seed to help you
3. store your seed in a safe place in paper form. Computers can be hacked, but physical paper cannot. We strongly recommend that you save your recovery seed in this way and not in a Word document on your computer. If you have a lot of IOTA, you should spend the extra seconds to manually enter your recovery seed.
The lightweight GUI wallet is secure in your application. However, security can be compromised by human error. Provided you follow the steps above, you should not experience any problems.
IOTA Wallet setup
First you have to go to Github to get the wallet download link.
Step 1: IOTA Wallet Download
Once you are on the Github website, you should see the latest versions of the GUI IOTA light wallet. Which download is right for you? The file extension '.dmg' is the MAC wallet and the file extension '.exe'' is forWindows.
Step 2: IOTA Wallet Setup
Once you have downloaded the necessary file, you will need to install the walelt. On a MAC, simply open the file and move the IOTA wallet to your application folder.
If you try to open the app, you will get a message that the app cannot be opened "because it comes from an unidentified developer".
Do not worry about this warning. The warning message appears because the app has not been officially registered in the app store. To open the app, simply go to 'System Preferences' and select 'Security & Privacy'.
Then click on "Open anyway".
When the app opens, you will be asked whether you want to run a 'Light Node' or a 'Full Node', and we recommend that you select 'Light Node'.
You are then prompted to select a host. Simply select any option from the drop-down list and click the Start button.
You will then see a login screen and will be prompted to create a recovery seed.
As already mentioned, you do not use an automatic seed generator and create your own instead. The seed must be created according to the following rules:
1. a seed consists of 81 characters Accepted characters are the letters A to Z and the number 9.
2. all letters must be written in capital letters
An example of an acceptable IOTA recovery seed would be:HFHUFHUFHUHROHOAFGHARUDXUOAUFIAGFIGFYOIAHFOFIAHFUAFFGAFUFFUIRGFUIAFIYFUAUHSCEAYFYAE9
How to send and receive IOTA?
