Ark Wallet Review ▷ Our experience with the Online Desktop Wallet!
Ark Wallet Download
Ark aims to provide a user-friendly mechanism for staking. However, before you can earn Ark by staking, you need to set up your Ark wallet.
The Ark Wallet has a great user interface and many features. In this guide we use Windows for installation. However, you can install the Ark desktop client on Linux and Mac OS.
Visit the Ark website, where you will find a drop-down menu "Wallets".
- The wallet is developed and optimized for the desktop.
- The wallet is available for Windows, iOS & Linux.
- The wallet supports advanced features such as delegate voting.
- The wallet has a Changelly Exchange integration.
Ark Wallet setup
Once you have browsed the official Ark site, you will be redirected to the official Github repository.
As you can see, the latest version of the Ark Desktop Client is 1.6.1. choose the installation file appropriate for your operating system: choose .exe for Windows, . dmg for Mac and . deb or . tar.xz for Linux.
After you have downloaded the appropriate file, install the program on your operating system.
When the desktop client is started, the main screen is displayed. Here you have two options: Import account or create account. For initial setup, please select "Create Account".
The next screen gives you a secure "passphrase" for your wallet. This backup passphrase is twelve words long and must be kept in a safe place. You can think of this passphrase as the PIN for your Ark-Coin account. So no one must know this passphrase.
It cannot be stressed enough how secure and private you should keep this information. Note, however, that Ark cannot help you regain access to your wallet if you lose your passphrase.
Once you have your passphrase securely stored (preferably in physical paper form), Ark will validate your information by entering random words from your passphrase. Once you have entered the appropriate words, click on the "Create" option.
Next, Ark displays a small pop-up window where you can see the conversion rate between Ark and other crypto currencies.
You can also receive Ark to your wallet using the address you see at the top of the screen.
How to stake Ark
Arkist is a digital currency that uses the Delegate Deposit Verification System (DPoS) as a means of confirming/producing blocks in the block chain. With your Ark Coin you vote for or remove a delegate. With your vote you can choose who you want to support. Maybe you have a particular community or friend you want to support. You can do this by voting for them as a delegate with your Ark Coin votes.
The 51 top-ranked delegates receive rewards, so do some research before you vote.
Before we look at how you can cast your vote in the Ark desktop wallet, let's explain a few things about voting:
Only one Ark address can vote for a delegate. If you want to vote for more than one delegate, you must split your Ark wallet into multiple address splits.
An Ark has a voting weight of 1, meaning the more Ark you have, the more voting rights you have.
So if you have 500 Ark, then your voting right is 500 Ark. But if you split your wallet into two equal wallets (to vote for several delegates), then each wallet has the voting right of 250 Ark. Make sure you want to vote for two delegates before you split your wallet, as you will essentially lose half of your voting rights.
Finally, there is a fee associated with every vote and dissension, but there are some delegates who are willing to refund your voting fee.
First open your Ark Desktop Wallet to get started.
Make sure that you are in the wallet from which you want to cast your vote. Remember that voting and unvoting is subject to a fee.
Next, you want to select the Votes tab, which is located under your wallet address. Once there, click Vote, and a pop-up window will appear on your screen.
Here you can enter your active delegate. From the Active Delegate drop-down list, select the delegate you want to vote for. If the selected delegate is not displayed in the drop-down list, you can also manually enter the name in the Delegate Name field.
When you are sure you have selected the delegate you want, go to the "Passphrase" field. Enter your passphrase here. Be sure to use the passphrase associated with your current Arc Wallet address.
Now press the "Next" button.
The next screen you see is an overview of the above transaction. When you want to confirm your transaction, click on the "Send" button.
If all is successful, you will see a green banner in the lower left corner of your wallet. This tells you that the transaction was transmitted over the network without errors. If an error occurs, you will see a red banner. Some common errors are insufficient ark or a wrong passphrase.
If all is successful, the voting option on the tab will be grayed out. This is because you can only vote for one delegate per arc address.
To cancel your vote, open your Ark Desktop Wallet and navigate to the Votes tab. Again, make sure you are in the correct Ark wallet.
Also remember that it costs Ark to withdraw a voice, so make sure you want to do this step.
On the right side of your delegate's screen you will see an option to cancel the vote. Click this button and you will again see a pop-up that will guide you through the no-voting process.
You should see your delegate's name in the Delegate Name field and a field to enter your passphrase. Once you have entered your passphrase, click "Next" to complete the transaction.
When you are ready to complete the transaction, click on the "Send" button. Your transaction will be executed and if everything is completed successfully, you will again see a green banner in the lower left corner of your wallet.
As soon as the transaction has been successfully completed, your reconciliation list in your wallet will be empty again.
Overall, the Ark wallet provides a great user experience. It's easy to set up and the interface looks elegant and professional.
TheDesktop-Wallet is slim, offers a lot of functionality and does not feel overloaded or overwhelming. Ark has done a fantastic job of making a technically complex process look appealing to your users, and the Ark team is constantly improving and developing your wallet, making the Bitcoin-News.one team excited about the future.
